Who Qualifies For A Bursary Or University Student Loan From NSFAS?



The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has formally opened the 2025 application process.

Applications are now open and can shut on 15 December 2024.

*** Who qualifies for NSFAS funding

To qualify for NSFAS funding, an applicant will have to satisfy the following criteria:

• Be considered a South African citizen or copyright who arises from a home using a combined gross home income that doesn't exceed R350 000 for every annum.

• Individuals with disabilities qualify if their combined home earnings will not exceed R600 000 per annum.

• SASSA recipients automatically qualify for funding and want not post any proof of earnings.

*** Loan Scheme for the Missing Middle

The NSFAS Loan Scheme for the missing middle is open up to all South African citizens and permanent inhabitants from households with combined R350 000 and R600 000 for every annum.

Applicants are reminded to provide the correct Id Doc numbers, names, and surname, as mirrored inside their South African ID.
